Privacy policy
Last updated 4 November 2026
- Your videos stay on your iPhone. We never receive the video file.
- To transcribe and find retakes, we send your speech audio and its transcript to AI services, through our own server.
- We don't sell your data, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
- You can delete any edit inside the app, and uninstalling Torka removes everything stored on your phone.
Torka is made by SBA Solutions Inc. ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the Torka app does with your information. The app is for people aged 13 and over.
1. What stays on your iPhone
The following is stored only on your device, in the app's own storage:
- the videos you record or import, and the edits, captions and settings you make;
- the exports you save, which go to your Photos library when you choose to save them;
- your onboarding answers and a log of app events. These are kept on your phone and not sent anywhere;
- the email address you type to sign in.
2. What we send, and to whom
Some features need an outside service. Requests go through our own server, which holds the service keys so they are never inside the app. Our server does not store your audio, images or transcript text after it passes them on.
| What | Why | Sent to |
|---|---|---|
| Compressed audio of your clip | Speech-to-text transcription | Groq (through our server) |
| Transcript text, and short audio clips when a feature needs them | Finding retakes and cutting filler words; planning B-roll | Google Gemini (through our server) |
| Still images (frames from your video, arranged as contact sheets) | Choosing B-roll that matches what is said | Google Gemini (through our server) |
| Search words for B-roll | Finding stock footage and photos | Pixabay, Pexels and Unsplash (through our server) |
Speech recognition runs on your iPhone with Apple's on-device speech recognition whenever your language supports it. If it doesn't, Apple's speech service may process the audio under Apple's own privacy policy.
The AI services process your data under their own terms, which are published by Google and Groq.
3. What our server keeps
For each request, our server writes a short log entry to its function logs. It includes the feature used, the model name, a random identifier for the edit, a hashed identifier for your device, the time taken, the status, and an estimated cost. It never includes your video, audio, images or transcript text. Hosting providers keep function logs for a limited period.
Your device is verified with Apple App Attest, which proves that a request comes from the genuine app on a real iPhone. The app keeps only the key it needs for that check.
4. Permissions
- Camera and microphone: to record videos inside the app.
- Photos: to import videos and to save exports.
- Speech recognition: to turn your speech into a transcript.
You can change these at any time in Settings > Torka.
5. Purchases and accounts
Subscriptions will be handled by Apple through the App Store. We don't receive your payment card details. Sign-in and subscriptions are not fully live in every build yet. When they are, this policy will say what is sent for them.
6. Tracking and advertising
Torka does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and it does not show advertising.
7. Keeping and deleting your data
Edits and exports stay on your phone until you delete them in the app. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your phone. We keep no copy of your videos. Server log entries don't include your name, email address or content, so we can't match them to you. If you have a question about them, email us and we will answer it.
8. Children
Torka is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
